sympathetic or unselfish joy, or finding joy in the good fortune of others
About Bryan
Bryan Bonin was a family man, a loving father, doting husband, caring son, brother, uncle and great friend.
Son of Joseph and Lorraine Bonin, Bryan grew up in Commack, NY and attended Commack High School. Bryan graduated from CW Post University, where he served as a student-athlete on the baseball team as #24. After graduating college, Bryan worked briefly in the finance field.
In 2016, Bryan decided to change careers and went back to school to become a teacher. That was where Bryan found his passion. He started coaching at Commack High School from 2017-2021. He was a mentor and inspiration to all that knew him.
In 2016 Bryan and Lauren were married. They proudly raised their children Ashlynn, Ella and Luke together.
After a fierce 12-month fight, Bryan passed away from Acral Melanoma on January 25, 2022. Through his final days, Bryan was focused on spending time with his family. He and Lauren spoke about helping families like theirs who were battling cancer and about to embark on an unimaginable journey of losing a spouse and a parent.

“While winning often determines the success of a coach, I can assure you that was the least of coach’s worries. Coach Bonin’s priority was helping us to grow into good people.
His biggest motto was something called MUDITA; joy in the good fortune of others.
Rather than preach success on the diamond, he wanted us to support our teammates, not only in our success but in our deepest challenges and failures.”
